In My Mind's Eye

In My Mind's Eye  ✨ In my mind’s eye Stars, they whirl With wings they fly Brightly swirl Speckles of light Golden spark The jewels of night Slay the dark In my mind’s eye The late spring frost Was the faint sigh Of winter lost The snow had flown Yet as before The windows shone With frost once more In my mind’s eye A small blazing light Flaring up high  It conquers the night Once a bright star Yet it tumbled down Now raging far As a flaming crown In my mind’s eye A long forgotten pond Cradles the sky And the space far beyond A wrinkled dream Of a vast boundless sphere The faintest gleam Like a cloudy mirror ~Madelyn

The Mountain

T he M oun t ain Day breaks behind and flows before My single summit, crowned in white Vessels of sunlight tip and pour To lend a cloak of rosy light My roots delve deep into the earth No wind of force can toss me down Image and strength have bought my worth I bear a name of great renown An eagle in exalted flight Keen eyes transfixed upon the ground Could not surpass my unbound sight To me no secret walks unfound They gaze up to my noble peak Praise fills their words yet brings no hope There is but one that they should seek He whose height far transcends this slope My lofty heights could pierce the sky If high through the heavens they soared Yet snap in the blink of an eye If faced with His two-edged Sword By Him all things were created Both in the heavens and on earth Sent the Saviour long-awaited Through miraculous virgin birth I see man walk this land alone Wretched in the works of their hands Such lone solitude I have known  Enthroned above these frozen lands Those who look in...

Christmas Morning

Christmas Morning *** Over the glistening white mountains The first rays of morning came. Light danced on etchings of frost That were flecked on my windowpane Delicate flakes drifted down  To rest on a world so still That white December morning Slept on my windowsill The earth did sparkle and gleam A Christmas to remember The snow had washed it clean The light had chased the darkness  Across the snow-covered land A melody of hope sung strong The surging notes expand Across the snow-covered land -Madelyn

Farewell to Summer

Farewell to Summer Summer takes its final breath With all the warmth that’s left The last hint of summer’s green Fades from all things In the branches The bird no longer sings The last Summer breeze Rustles the reddening leaves A quiet whisper in the breeze Calls for Autumn’s Freeze Hissing chill poisons the air  As Autumn arises from its lair ~Madelyn

Words

Words Dazzling stars  On a white paper sky. More precious than jewels. Delighting the eye. Like many colored pencils  That shape a work of art. They flow softly like moonbeams  Or pierce through the heart. Like brightly colored beads  Waiting to be strung. To be taken and put on paper Or slide off the tongue. To be carefully connected  In a design well thought out, And have life flow through them  Without reluctance or doubt. To spread warmth through the heart  Of whoever may see Them as the beautiful formation  The author created them to be. ~Madelyn B.
