Changes Are Coming & Good Luck With NaNoWriMo!

Hello! Today, I have a post that slightly differs from others because, instead of being solely focused on one topic, this is a bit of a combo-post. I'd like to simply touch on a few things, so let's get started!          First of all, changes are coming...and I'm not just talking about the autumn wind that brings a chill to the air and beckons for winter. Changes are coming here-- to A Writer's Pen. There are ideas up in the air, plans in progress, and little things going on behind the scenes that will come out in due time. Yet, many of these plans are not quite set in stone. That is why I'd like to remind you of the survey that I introduced to you last week. I'd really love to know what you think! Changes are coming, but I want to be sure that my readers are involved and able to have a say in what they think would improve A Writer's Pen. Click here to take the survey!           Secondly , I'd...

A Writer's Pen Survey

Greetings! Though yesterday was the regular posting day, I choose to move it slightly, just this once, because today marks 200 days since the first post of A Writer's Pen! It's hard for me to believe that it's been that long!      On this monumental day, I'd like to ask you a question.... What could improve A Writer's Pen? I want your feedback! It's my wish that this blog would encourage and teach other writers , and you can help me know how to achieve that goal by filling out a survey. This survey will only take about 5-7 minutes of your time, and it could make a big difference! Do you have any suggestions, opinions, observations, or problems that you'd like fixed? I'd love to hear it all!     Click here to take the survey; I'd really appreciate it!       ( This survey is to be long-term; I will be leaving the link to it in the sidebar of this blog so that any future readers can also have the chance to fill i...

The Readers' Survey Results: Plot

Welcome to the very last article of The Readers' Survey! I'm running short on time as I attempt to finish this article punctually. It is Sunday, currently. I was going about my day and it dawned on me that Monday is the day I post... and I had nothing written. I'll have to cut this introduction (for the sake of time) short and dive right in! Questions Answers My notes  Plot 11.  How do you prefer stories to begin? A few chapters of introducing the character? Being dropped straight into action? I would say both! I would like to get to know the character, but, at the same time, I would like to have some action as well. -Hannah  There are definitely benefits to both! The beginning of a book should always hook the reader, yet if the story progresses from the first sentence without a real introduction to the character, the reader's interest will waver.  I like stories that drop you straight into the action, it's exciting. -Maddy K. It definitel...

Today’s Post Postponed

Due to the fact I haven’t had time to complete the next section of The Reader’s Survey, I’m afraid it is postponed until Wednesday. My apologies for any inconvenience! I’ll try to be more timely next time.      Have a good evening!      ~Madelyn

The Readers' Survey Results: General

Hello, and good day!      This week I sent out a survey to many of my followers entitled "The Readers’ Survey". I posed questions to readers about what makes a good book and how it can be accomplished. I was overwhelmed with the insightful responses that I received! I would like to thank my respondents for their help. This would not be possible without them!! So, thank you: Luna, Hannah, Maddy K., Brin, Grace, and Rachel!      I had planned on compiling the results of this survey into an article.      One article.      However, when I began to compile the answers and make notes, I found that this article would be far too long for anyone to comfortably read in one sitting. Thus, there has been a change in plans. I will be releasing these survey results in four articles, based on the sections of the survey. General  Characters  Prose  Plot       I hope that you ...
